I drove to the top parking garage floor of 700 5th Ave Seattle and having no available spaces. Then I drove back down and saw people inside their car about to leave. By this time I was getting a call from my architect for our city land use meeting asking where I was. I told him I’m in the parking garage and could not find an available parking space. He said that they would have to start the meeting without me. Their was no sign at the entrance stating the status of parking availability. If there was I would have parked across the street and would have been to my meeting on time. This meeting cost me $775 for a Seattle City Fee, $75 per hour for the Architect and Air Fare hotel and car rental expenses. I should not have to pay for this ticket and this parking garage needs to have an entrance sign displaying parking availability.Gregory Pierce

Parking In Seattle

Seattle is the birthplace of Nirvana, Bill Gates and Jimi Hendrix. It’s the city that never sleeps and always offers its visitors something interesting to check out. But what about finding a parking spot in Seattle? Here are some useful tips that’ll help you out.

There is plenty of on-street parking in the city. The rates are from $1 to $4 per hour, and are enforced Mon-Sat, 8AM-6PM or, depending on the particular location, 8AM-8PM. The time limit is 2, 4 or 10 hours. Coins and debit/credit cards are accepted.

A pay-by-phone option is available at all on-street locations. It allows you to pay for parking from your cell phone, saving you the necessity of finding a pay station and getting a receipt. Visit the city’s official website to learn more about this feature.

The average rates for off-street parking are $7-11 per hour and $15-30 per 24 hours.

Monthly parking in Downtown Seattle is usually quite expensive, ranging from $200 to $350.

If you’re looking for a specific place, such as the Seattle Aquarium (Pike Place Market Garage), the Seattle Center or Pacific Place, Seattle’s parking map on our website will provide you with information on all these locations and many others.
